Winter has been quite harsh in Montréal this year. With the return of beautiful weather, it is now time to take a good look around your house. Use our checklist to get your home in shape so you can enjoy the summer ahead.
Check the caulk around your windows and doors. If you find gaps or cracks, replace it with an appropriate silicone sealant. Leakage around windows will let air and water enter into your home.
Clean your windows inside and out. I personally mix 1 cup of rubbing alcohol, one cup of water and 2 tablespoon of white vinegar, and wipe them with a squeege. Remove and clean also the screens with a mix of water and diswasher soap.
Clean out and add space in your garage. Improve the look of it with a fresh coat of paint, and seal the garage floor. Install new storage shelves, plus hooks to keep it orderly.
Your air conditioning needs a good clean too, especially the motor, the blower and the condenser. Remember to change the filter at least twice during the hot season.
A quick inspection can help prevent a flood in the laundry room. Check the washing machine hoses and look for signs of deterioration or moisture around the connections. If they are installed for more than 5 years, you should replace them.
Have your gutters and downspouts cleaned and repaired. Clogged gutters can seriously damage your home's eaves, fascia and foundation.
Spring is the right time to repair, clean and refinish your deck or patio. You can power wash it to remove dust and mildrew. Apply a fresh stain coat and sealent.
Prepare the BBQ for this new season starting with a thorough cleaning including the grill housing, burner, heat distribution plates, and cooking grates. Check also that the gaz bottle and hose are in good condition.
Protect your tile floor and grout lines from dust and stains. Clean the lines with baking soda, white vinegar and a brush or call us, we have the vapor machine to do it. Apply then a grout sealer using an applicator or a brush.
